ANTHRAX, die fünffach Grammy nominierten, mit Platin ausgezeichneten und offizielles Mitglied von The Big Four, werden mit dem Set-Up ihres brandneuen Albums beginnen, wenn sie Ende des Monats in den USA auf Tour gehen.
"Soror Irrumator (Lords of The Rock)", ANTHRAX Beitrag zu HBOs "Game of Thrones", "Catch The Throne Mixtape, Vol II", das am 17. März erschien, wird bereits von Rock Radiostationen aufgegriffen und gespielt. ANTHRAX Bello, Benante und Ian sind alle massive Fans der Show - so war es für sie extrem spannend, als sie gefragt wurden, einen Song für das Mixtape zu komponieren. "Soror Irrumator (Lords of The Rock)" (sowie den Rest des Mixtapes) gibt es umsonst auf Soundcloud und iTunes.
ANTHRAX neues Album folgt dem 2011er, für einen Grammy nominierten, gefeierten "Worship Music", das zudem die Rückkehr des früheren Sängers Joey Belladonna einläutete, von viele Medien zu einem der besten Metal-Alben 2011 gekürt wurde und der Band das Rock ´n´ Roll-Comeback des Jahres bescherte. Das neue Album stellt außerdem das Debüt für den Gitarristen und neuesten Bandzugang Jon Donais dar. "Jon´s been great", so Scott Ian. "So far, he´s played lead on at least seven or eight of the tracks, and they all sound amazing."
Der Songwritingprozess des neuen Albums begann bereits Ende 2013, als Benante Riff-Vorschläge und andere musikalische Ideen mit Bello und Ian austauschte. Im vergangenen Herbst begannen dann die eigentlichen Sessions gemeinsam mit Produzent (und sechstem Bandmitglied) Jay Ruston und führten zu um die 20 neuen Songs, beinahe doppelt so viele, wie die Band in der Vergangenheit mit ins Studio brachten.
ANTHRAX - Joey Belladonna/Vocals, Frank Bello/Bass, Charlie Benante/Drums, Gitarrist Jon Donais und Scott Ian/Rhythmus Gitarre - starteten die Aufnahmen des Albums noch im November letten Jahres. Benante erklärt: „"Worship Music" started a new chapter in our career, and it has served as an inspiration for this new album. "Worship…" was made up of a lot of different types of songs, some thrashy, some very mid-90s ANTHRAX-sounding, but this new one is really thrashy."
Bello dazu: "The thing about ANTHRAX… we have this heavy, thrashy music and Joey´s powerful and melodic vocals. I love heavy music, but I also love melody, so the challenge is to blend them together so they sound like ANTHRAX, and I think we´ve done a really good job of that, especially on this new record."
"The lyrics I write tend to go along with the way the music sounds, and this new music is very angry," so Ian. "Lots of people said that "Worship Music" was a return to the roots of the band...well, this record is even more so. Unlike Worship Music" we wrote this new album with a line-up, with Joey in the band, and that has made all the difference in the world. Joey being a part of the band again, going on five years already, it definitely feels like a unit. Everything that was great about him on ´Worship´ is there even more on this new record."
"I know that there are a lot of expectations out there for this new album," gibt Bello zu, "but that doesn´t really affect us because we write the way we write. We´re all from New York, so we love a challenge, and while I´m happy to have people say that ANTHRAX is back and that "Worship Music" was the best album of our career, we raised the bar on this one, I think we have the goods with the new songs, and I´m proud to say that. At the end of the day, all you can do is have it come from the heart, do your best, and hope that people like it. That´s what we did with "Worship Music" and look what happened."
ANTHRAX neues, bislang unbetiteltes, Album wird noch in diesem Jahr veröffentlicht.
Der aktuelle Release der Band, „Chile On Hell“, ist auf DVD und Blu-Ray und 2 Live CDs erhältlich und wurde in 5.1 Surround Sound aufgezeichnet.
